Early Look at Livestation on the iPhone
NewTeeVee —
Live-streaming TV on the iPhone? That’s what Livestation is promising, with a video demo of an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch, though the app hasn’t yet been accepted by Apple. Livestation offers peer-to-peer enabled streams from providers such as the BBC and Al Jazeera. ...
Livestation coming to the iPhone
The Inquisitr » Technology —
I’m a big fan of P2P live television service Livestation, and unlike many other sites we’ve covered them heavily. The service offers live television from a range of major providers, including BBC, Al Jazerra, France 24 and others. More recently, they added support for internet streams as a well, so it now offers CNN and others all from the same handy interface. I watched all the US Presidential debates from Livestation, and its my first port of call for anything I need live TV news coverage on.
We also have a nice Livestation story: Livestation picked up streaming of the Large Haldron Collider after I ...
YouTube now offering widescreen embeds
The Inquisitr » Technology —
Just short of two weeks after first offering widescreen video, YouTube has rolled out widescreen embeddable videos, with a new standard search feature.
The new embeds deliver a 16:9 ratio for widescreen vidoes, allowing sites to show a full widescreen video without black above or below the video. Notably each embed now includes a YouTube search box; either a handy feature or annoying depending on your perspective.
The new embeds are not retrospective, so existing embeds retain the 4:3 aspect ratio.
I noted on Twitter 2 weeks ago how that I was disapponted that YouTube didn’t role out widescreen ...
Live TV streaming on iPhone and iPod
D' Technology Weblog —
Microsoft research product “Livestation” announced plans to bring free live streaming of TV to the iPhone and iPod. In a video posted below the Livestation website, CEO Matteo Berlucchi demonstrates a preview of the software. Currently the application will only work on Wi-Fi as operators “would not be happy” with the bandwidth consumption. The app is designed for iPod Touch and iPhone devices of all generations. Channels take approximately 10 seconds to buffer during which time Livestation may include adverts whilst the user waits.
Currently Livestation is working on the quality of ...
Livestation to Bring Live TV to the iPhone/iPod touch
MacBlogz - One Stop Apple News —
On Thursday, Livestation, a service that offers peer-to-peer streaming from major broadcasters will announce a development application for the iPhone/iPod touch that aims to bring live TV to these devices.
TechCrunch UK reports that the heavily funded operation has recently announced plans to offer an iPhone/iPod touch application that promises to deliver streaming Television to your device. While this certainly sounds intriguing and was easily able to capture my attention, there is an interesting twist to this tale. In 2006 Microsoft had inked an equity deal with Skinkers, the developers of ...
LiveStation brings live TV to the iPhone
Newlaunches.com —
LiveStation showed a live demo of their new app that plays live TV on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The app isn't being released yet, because they need approval from the Apple App Store. Livestation offers peer-to-peer enabled streams from broadcasters like BBC and CNN. It did release some open software to download for the average user earlier this year. They are not the only ones in this game of course. Live Web streaming is now commonplace from TV broadcasters, and there is Zurich-based startup Zattoo plugging away with some desktop software. The application will only work over Wi-Fi, when it launches on the iPhone App Store. Via ...
