Nokia Shaping Up To Launch Its Very Own App Store?

... (both blogs are in Russian) writes is true, then that’s exactly what the Finnish juggernaut in mobile is going to launch at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. I concur with Engadget who says launching an application portal/store is a logical step to take for any mobile handset maker these days, but if Nokia is in fact going to launch one it will be worth taking a look at, and not only from a consumer or developer standpoint.

If you don’t own an App Store, you’re missing out an extra amount of cash that can be collected by selling mobile software. Apple, Palm, Google and even Samsung has jumped in the fray and now the rumor has it that Nokia is also contemplating to offer a one stop shop for all the Symbian software needs. Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-review says Nokia store is polishing it but will be revealed to the general public at the MWC next week.

Word has it that Nokia has actually already got their app store running and is going through tests behind the scenes and a formal announcement is expected during the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona.
Obviously with the likes of Apple, Palm, BlackBerry, Samsung and Android all pushing out app stores it was only a matter of time before Nokia joined the band wagon.
