It is about time that AT&T gives iPhone users what they have been asking for. Now all we need is a teathering plan for the iPhone. The text message AT&T sends out has a line - “Free access is renewable every 24 hours. “ - that is not quite clear as to what exactly it means. Unlimited free access does not often need a renewal. Gear Diary — ... looks as if you have to renew your connection once per day and they verify it’s really you (and your iPhone) by sending out a text message. I’m guessing they somehow uniquely identify the iPhone so you can’t spoof a laptop’s browser and get free Wi-Fi. I’m not sure what happens if your whole reason for using Wi-Fi is due to having no cell phone signal - which would make it impossible to receive the text message verification that seems to be required to initiate your connection… Via: SlashGear

Celularis — ... McDonalds. Ya estuvieron mandando mensajes a los clientes para avisarles de la novedad, y activar el servicio es muy fácil. Hace un tiempo habían amagado con ofrecer estos beneficios pero los dieron de baja rápido. En mobilecrunch especulan con que esta decisión podría buscar liberar un poco su saturada red 3G pero la verdad, eso es lo de menos.
