Wired: Gadget Lab — ... huge. Being able to browse and download free audio and video content independent of a computer turns the iPhone into a true mobile entertainment machine, and pretty much quashes the competition (Zune marketplace, anyone?) I pretty much never listen to music on my iPod unless it's hooked up to a stereo. All my mobile listening is podcasts, and now I won't have to run out of things to listen to when I'm on a trip. While this is still rumor, we’ve seen this reported independently from several sources, so it’s fair to say that support for podcasts on the iPhone is going to take a big leap very soon.  You can view the original article in Googlish here. via MacRumors

Engadget — ... projects which are similar to its own -- but it's still hard to stomach the concept of the company outright refusing an application with nearly the exact same functionality, only to turn around and add it to their installed software. This kind of veiled violence against developers only serves to chip away at the support Apple has engendered in its community, and drive those hands and eyes to other platforms. (You can currently buy music via wi-fi, but not over AT&T;'s 3G network.) We think so. Why? MacRumors points to screenshots from a German blog (right) of someone purportedly downloading a podcast from iTunes over a 3G connection, running iPhone 2.2 software. If the screenshots are real, we think it makes sense that Apple would activate paid downloads -- iTunes music purchases -- at the same time it activates downloads it doesn't make any money from ...
